Dudley is the one that got away.

Ever consider some people actually like staying in a job they enjoy....and get paid a ton of money for?

Guys been bumping around regularly for the past what? 5 years or so. Im sure hes sick of looking for a new place of employment. If he was ever the top guy on the list for GM they never would have waited until the exact night the Habs were in town for a game to finally ask for permission to speak with him and then right have the Habs announce a contract extension. It was all posturing. Nothing more. Dudley is old news.

Where is Miller's name in the list of potential GM's for Sabres? Maybe then he could trade himself out west

A BIG no to Joe, remember he traded Steve Ott and Adam Pardy for Derek Roy.

This search is becoming a giant clusterf--k. Hire someone competent w/ experience. My first choice is Brian Burke, but if he's too strong a personality, then hire Fenton and be done with it. We have a team to build and we're burning daylight.

Because they are doing a thorough search and vetting all possible candidates
. It is a giant clusterf**k ? Rushing to judgement and not making sure we hired the right candidate is what got us in this mess. If you have no patience find another team to cheer for. Most of us would rather they go about this the right way.

I wouldn't even interview Joe Nieuwendyk after the mess he made in Dallas...great player but no thanks. Its looking like it's going to be an AGM...don't know much about Murray, but the Sens are the least impressive to me. Pittsburgh hit the draft lottery. The Bruins did it the right way and that guy from Nashville seems hungry for it too. So I'd go with the Bruins AGM or Nashvilles AGM at the top of the list.

Now perhaps, Garth... do you suppose the Sabres could trade Ryan Miller to the Canadiens for their first round draft pick and Dudley?

the thing with your first choice, or the next guys first choice, or the last guys first choice is this...

The "choice" also has to say yes. It doesn't matter how much money you may throw at them, or what you offer, they ultimately have to want to do it.

Just because they don't get the guy you wanted, or he wanted, or someone else wanted doesn't mean they didn't give him a fair offer, or even a generous offer.

Don't knock them for that, they are obviously looking for the best candidate in taking this much time. -- Or they are just low-balling everyone and getting laughed at.

Boterill is the Pens cap management guy and honestly, I don't know if there's anyone better considering that the Pens have hit the draft lottery a number of times in a short period of time (with ping pong balls, poor play and just getting the right guy in later rounds or guys that show up early after their drafting) and have been able to keep almost all of them unless they wanted out like Staal & Hossa.

Not in Garth's world. Even though Dudley said he didn't want to be a GM and he was very happy where he was at and enjoyed his job and the city. If he really wanted to leave and be a GM he never would have signed an extension. But that doesn't matter to Garth

Question Garth,

I see McCormick has been practicing again and Nolan said he is "good to go."

Does that mean the Sabres have to make a roster move? Just curious because isn't he on IR right now?

Yes. Nolan said today on his radio show that he and LaFontaine were kicking around a couple of different scenarios for the roster move. He did not elaborate or give any indication what that move may be.
